District told 31aa funds will split toward mental health and security; details still being written
Summary
Staff said the 31aa pot will allocate roughly one-third to mental health for all students and preserve the security portion under prior protections; board members were told language and qualifying rules remain to be finalized and local effects will depend on how the changes are implemented.

The staff member summarized a change to allocations under Section 31aa and said about a third of the funding pot will be designated for mental-health support and will be available automatically for students, while the remaining funds will continue to cover safety and security under prior provisions.
"They split about 0.333 of the pot to go to mental health, and everybody qualifies for that automatically," the staff member said. He added that better language may be developed to give boards more flexibility, but at present those details had not been finalized.
