Council accepts FY2024 audit; auditor praises city controls

The Midvale City Council on Feb. 4 unanimously approved Resolution No. 2025-R-07 acknowledging receipt and completion of the FY2024 annual audit.
Administrative Services Director Mariah Hill told the council that municipalities with revenues or expenditures of $1,000,000 or more must submit their audit to the State Auditor’s Office by Dec. 31. Hill said Midvale missed that deadline because of staff turnover and delays while the auditor prepared financial statements for the first time. “The audit must be submitted to the State Auditor’s Office by December 31 of the year,” Hill said.
Marcus Arbuckle of Keddington & Christensen L.L.C. presented the audit results and complimented city staff and the institutional controls in place for managing funds. Council Member Heidi Robinson moved to approve the resolution acknowledging the audit and directing notice under Utah Code section 10-6-152; Council Member Bonnie Billings seconded the motion and the full council voted five ayes.
An electronic version of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report will be posted to the city website and submitted to the State Auditor’s Office as required by statute.
