Council approves moving forward with Crucero Park bid; construction expected in 2025

After pulling item 14 from the consent calendar for public clarity, Councilmember Wendy Bucknam asked staff to outline the schedule for Crucero Park rehabilitation. A city parks staff member said the item requests permission to go out to bid, with staff planning to purchase equipment (playground equipment and shade cover) in advance to avoid contractor markups. "By purchasing the equipment tonight, we'll get it ordered," the staff member said, adding that staff expect to return in February with an award recommendation and start construction in early spring, finishing in late fall or winter 2025.
Councilmembers expressed support for the timeline; the motion to proceed with the bid authorization and advanced equipment procurement passed unanimously. Staff will present award documents and a construction schedule at a future meeting when bids are evaluated.
