He said the vendor initially requested a 5% increase but offered a 2.5% increase for an additional year; "they are willing, to give you an additional year...which puts it around $230,000," the staff member said.
A supervisor moved to accept the one‑year, 2.5% extension; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Supervisors asked staff to continue negotiations about multi‑year arrangements that could lock a longer term at favorable pricing and to report back with options.
The action preserves current service continuity through the next spraying season while leaving open longer procurement discussions and price comparisons with peer counties.
