Owners Curtis Carter and Gregory Carter acknowledged the condition of the structure and said they had arranged a contractor to tear down and clear the site; the owner said additional work would be staged and requested time to complete removal. The board voted to declare the property unfit for habitation to prohibit occupancy while cleanup proceeds.
A board member moved to condemn the property and give the owners 30 days; the motion passed by voice vote. Staff told the owners a county inspector will revisit the site at the end of the 30 days to assess progress and determine whether additional enforcement is needed.
The condemnation was conducted under county process and referenced code authority cited by the staff member at the hearing. The board noted it prefers voluntary cleanup but will pursue further enforcement (including court action) if the property is not remedied within the timeframe set by the board.
