The Gunter City Council voted to accept petition materials seeking creation of two public improvement districts — Platinum Ranch and Taylor Ranch — and scheduled public hearings on both petitions for Sept. 18. Staff told the council packets contained background materials and recommended setting the hearings so the public can comment in the statutorily required process.
Both motions passed unanimously in voice votes with council members indicating they had adequate information in the packet to set the hearings. The hearings will provide an opportunity for affected property owners and residents to comment before any further council action on PID formation.
Why it matters: PID formation can authorize assessments or financing mechanisms that affect property owners and public infrastructure; scheduled hearings create the formal opportunity for public input and statutory notice requirements to be met.
