Consumer success stories highlighted; DOOR to transition to Individual Placement Services July 1

Monica Robertson presented several client recovery stories: one client completed the Behavioral Health Treatment Court program, received housing, earned an associate degree from Merced Community College and plans to start at UC Merced; others regained driving privileges, secured full-time work and obtained housing. Staff reported two peer support specialists (PSS) started May 11 and that the Wellness Center hosted a Mental Health May event that served 158 clients and 57 staff. "Monica Robertson provided several recovery stories including a client who completed the Behavioral Health Treatment Court program and recently received housing, an associate’s degree in psychology from Merced Community College and will be starting UC Merced soon and has also obtained employment."
Monica also said the DOOR program will transition to a new model: "DOOR will be transitioning to a new program, Individual Placement Services, which will be implemented on July 1, 2026." Staff noted a small Nickel arcade outing planned for May 29 with about 10 clients and two staff, and that one client progressed from one-day attendance to three times weekly at the Wellness Center after completing substance use disorder classes.
