Sharon updated the council that the county submitted the draft BHSA Integrated Plan to the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) on March 31 and received 57 requested revisions. The plan was resubmitted May 6 and DHCS later provided about "7-9 revisions" focused on program descriptions and how services address disparities, Sharon said. "Sharon shared the update on the BHSA draft plan, submitted on March 31 to DHCS, which was reviewed and 57 revisions received."
The draft is scheduled for the Merced County Board of Supervisors on June 2, 2026. Sharon said the Board Agenda Item will request authority for BHRS director Kimiko to make any changes the state requires after the Board approves the plan. Committee members asked about access to the latest draft; "NAMI intern Seth asked if there was a way to access the draft to review as this is new to him, and Sharon confirmed that the most recent draft will be sent out to everyone in the committee." The council discussed annual updates, with the first scheduled June 30, 2027, and noted that some edits are structural to meet DHCS portal requirements rather than substantive program changes.
