Melissa Sue Robinson suggested the city explore creating a dedicated government channel in partnership with Idaho Public Television or a local cable/public access provider and launch a 6‑ to 12‑month public awareness campaign to reach residents who lack reliable internet. "Cable television remains one of the easiest ways for many seniors to stay informed, and a government channel will allow them to watch from the comfort of their homes," she said.
Robinson asked that meeting dates, times and major agenda topics be regularly advertised using television and radio in addition to social media so that participation is possible "before decisions are made, not after."
Why it matters: As municipal meetings rely increasingly on streaming, residents without broadband or comfort using online tools may lose access to civic processes. A dedicated channel and outreach campaign would expand accessibility for populations that rely on traditional broadcast media.
