El Monte board swears in two student trustees for 2025–26

At the Aug. 6 meeting the board formally swore in Ashley Yu and Tessa Osegueta as the district's student trustees for the 2025–26 school year.
"I'm a senior at South Almonte High School, and I've been involved in leadership since my freshman year... I really wanted to push for becoming the student member because I believe that student advocacy and student voice is really important," said Ashley Yu after taking the oath. Junior trustee Tessa Osegueta said she aims to "create an inclusive environment where every student has their needs heard," and praised Ashely as a mentor.
Board members welcomed the two trustees and asked them to share youth survey results and participate in the board retreat. The board paused for a recepetion and photo following the swearing-in.
