Local coalition and schools highlight Narcan distribution, call for training and harm reduction

JoJo Baratka of the Price County substance abuse and mental health coalition described ongoing prevention and harm-reduction outreach, including distribution of kits containing two doses of Narcan. "In the last three months, Baratka has handed out approximately 25 kits including two doses of Narcan in each kit," she said, and urged wider distribution of lock boxes, tear-out bags and Narcan direct as part of prevention efforts.
Rachel Hoffman of the Phillips School District said the district received a donated Narcan kit that "has not been needed for the past three years," but recommended partnership and staff training so schools can respond if incidents occur. Committee members discussed using funds for education, Narcan training, and supplies for families and schools.
