Board approves easement conveyance to San Francisco Public Utilities Commission for pipeline work

The Sunol Glen board voted to convey permanent and temporary construction easements to the City and County of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) to allow replacement of a section of pipeline that crosses district property. Staff explained the pipeline replacement is necessary because the asset is aging and the remaining section runs under the school track; routing requirements and the presence of a heritage tree require a specific easement configuration.
A staff speaker described negotiation of a purchase-and-sale agreement and an easement deed (permanent pipeline easement plus a temporary construction easement) and said final document language had been reviewed by counsel. "The SFQC, City and County of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, owns and operates the town of Cinnel Pipeline, which is the single source for potable and fire water in Sunil," staff explained during the presentation. After confirming that the district counsel and the board’s negotiating team had reviewed the documents, a trustee moved to approve the resolution conveying the easements and the motion carried by voice vote.
The action authorizes staff to execute the easement conveyance to allow SFPUC construction and associated temporary work on district property; staff noted the transaction had been negotiated to preserve the heritage tree while ensuring pipeline replacement.
