The planning commission advanced two linked transportation amendments after subcommittee review: remove the Northern Collector Road (NCR) segment from the comprehensive plan maps and prohibit the westward extension of Mayfair Crown Drive from its current terminus.
Subcommittee members argued the NCR segment should be removed because the plan and county/town positions no longer support a proposed county collector in that location. Commissioners said extending Mayfair Crown Drive could permit through‑traffic across a residential neighborhood (connecting Hillsborough Road/Route 690 and Percival Road/Route 611), which raised concerns about safety and neighborhood impacts. The subcommittee combined related recommendations and advanced both items for redlines and staff drafting.
The commission directed staff to draft deletion/replacement language for the roadway recommendations and to return with proposed redlines and analysis at the next meeting.
