Commissioners proclaim July 16 National Rural Transit Day; Real Transit praises county support

San Patricio County commissioners on July 20 adopted a proclamation recognizing National Rural Transit Day (observed July 16) and pledged support for expanded, affordable and accessible rural transit.
Pam Hernandez, speaking on behalf of Real Transit, thanked the commissioners and Crystal Juarez for placing the item on the agenda. "For many of our riders, transit is more than transportation. It's a lifeline that helps them remain independent and connected to their communities," Hernandez said, urging continued partnership to improve mobility for county residents.
The proclamation calls for attention to funding for rural transit, including federal, state and local efforts and support for transit that improves access for seniors and people with disabilities. Commissioners signed the proclamation and agreed to a photo with Real Transit representatives to mark completion of the service organization's nine-county outreach goal.
