Contractor says juvenile detention and animal shelter ARPA projects moving forward despite supply delays

Beck Brothers Incorporated's senior project manager gave an ARPA-funded projects update on July 20, reporting steady progress on the juvenile detention center and the county animal shelter.
On the juvenile detention center the contractor said HVAC crews are on site, air handlers and condensers are installed, windows are in and doors and hardware are arriving; flooring submittals and ceiling grid are queued for installation. "All of the doors have been received and are at our office with the hardware," the project manager said, and staff expect to acclimate the building and finish interior work early in the coming week.
At the animal shelter, the speaker said the first two loads of steel were delayed because of galvanizing capacity in San Antonio but that those loads were expected to arrive and erection would begin. The project manager reported the first two trucks are "11,425 pounds as I checked this morning." Commissioners asked for photos and POs to confirm deliveries and requested a Friday precinct meeting to review schedule and materials; staff agreed to arrange that follow-up.
Commissioners requested local coordination and documentation; the court did not change the contract status and will receive ongoing project updates.
