Culvert-lowering plan for Baker Ave fails to advance amid liability concerns

Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen raised concerns that altering the flow of water could create liability exposure for the township. Supervisor Ryan Nelson moved "to finish the project as needed and to address liability concerns with the attorney," with Chairman Mike Helman seconding; the motion was not carried (2-2). The board did not adopt any further action on the project at the meeting.
The maintenance report also noted the township has budgeted a hydraulic study for 2025; board members said estimates will be gathered for that study, which the board expects will inform future work on drainage and culvert projects.
