Escondido Adult School reports gains, new advanced pharmacy course and expanded externships

Principal Stacy Adame presented the Escondido Adult School annual update, reporting higher student achievement on most measures compared with 2023–24, a 4% gain in adult secondary education functioning levels, and 151 students graduating in 2025.
Adame highlighted ESL gains, a 137% increase in enrollment in citizenship preparation classes, and an 83% co‑op pass rate. She credited partnerships and scholarships from the Palomar Health Foundation and a Prebys Foundation grant for enabling 79–80 students to complete medical pathway certificates (medical assistant, phlebotomy, pharmacy tech). Adame said ESL and HiSET exams require in‑person administration and described a hybrid delivery model (1–2 online days and 2 in‑person days) designed to accommodate adult learners’ schedules.
Lisa Provincio, the district’s pharmacy technician instructor, described the pharmacy technician pathway and said the Advanced Pharmacy Technician course is planned to launch in spring 2026 (transcript includes inconsistent year references). Provincio also announced added externship partners including CVS and said 12 active pharmacy externship sites prepare students to sit for the PTCP pharmacy technician certification.
