Chief Siebel provided the data the streets & police committee used to recommend the change and said the department had recorded 11 collisions at the intersection, with additional unreported incidents likely. “There were 11 collisions there,” the chief said while summarizing the department’s findings. The committee recommended action at Broadway and Monroe and no change at Water and Monroe.
Council member (speaker 14) moved to add the 4-way stop; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The council also discussed flood-response planning for the East End Flats and the potential staging of barricades at fire halls for quick deployment during high-water events.
