City to adopt statewide municipal court payment-processing agreement

The City Council voted to adopt the statewide payment-processing agreement required by the new statewide judicial information system.
Lisa Carlson, Southland Municipal Court administrator, told the council the change is mandatory if the city wants to remain on the state system and will likely reduce paperwork and manual entry for staff. “Ultimately, it will make things easier. There will be a lot less paperwork,” Carlson said, while noting possible fees that will be determined when the system goes live in May.
Council members moved and seconded the agreement; the motion carried unanimously. Carlson said final cost details remain uncertain and will depend on attorney filings and how many attorneys use the system.
