District trims professional learning in LCAP, increases math tutoring
Summary

At a June 10 special meeting, district staff told the board that because LCAP revenue dropped by $1.1 million for 2025–26 they reallocated funds to protect classroom services and increased funding for math tutoring.
"We reduced professional learning in each goal, and the intent there was to keep the cuts away from the classroom and away from kids," Dr. Martin Casas said, adding that no new actions and services were added to the plan. Dr. Ariana Lepe Ramirez later detailed estimated expenditures by goal, saying, "Under goal 1, we are estimating, $8,100,000 expenditure" and listing other goal estimates and the specific increase to math tutoring.
Board members pressed for clarity on where certain supports are funded; staff said the science content specialist is paid from Title II funds, not the LCAP. Staff also confirmed the district’s bilingual parent liaison work and other outreach practices remain funded under Goal 4.
