Escondido Union High board approves LCAP and final 2025–26 budget
Summary
The board approved the district’s Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), parent and family engagement policy, and the 2025–26 final budget after staff summarized broad stakeholder input and a county compliance review. Dr. Casas presented the LCAP as the result of an extensive stakeholder process — including multiple educational partner committee meetings, school-site forums, student forums and a district survey with more than 3,000 participants — and said the county office of education completed a compliance review and accepted the draft pending board approval.
On the budget, Business Services staff reminded the board that the district must adopt a final budget by June 30. The board was told the district is continuing to deficit-spend as COVID-era funds unwind while remaining above the state’s required reserve; trustees voted by roll call to adopt the 2025–26 final budget and the LCAP documents.
Board President Bob Weller and Superintendent John Peterson both thanked staff for the work and emphasized the administration’s intent to reduce deficit spending over multiyear planning; no additional tax or bond measures were proposed at the meeting.
