The Escondido Union High School District board reviewed a draft of the district's Local Control Accountability Plan for 2025–26 during a special meeting on June 10.
"We had 5,295 survey participants, and that closed in March," Dr. Martin Casas told the board as he walked through the district's stakeholder engagement process, which also included site forums, student focus groups and parent meetings. He said the district posted a draft on May 2 and submitted it to the county office for compliance review on May 19; the county's June 2 feedback required only minor, non-substantive changes.
Casas framed the LCAP as a synthesis of stakeholder input, citing Education Code requirements and emphasizing that the plan should reflect general themes rather than a single group's views. He told the board the district did not add new actions or services after posting the draft and expects a board action on June 17.
Why it matters: the LCAP directs funding intended to support students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals, foster youth and English learners; the board's acceptance of the plan next week will set how LCAP funds are allocated for instruction and student supports in 2025–26.
