Commission creates 'North End' focus area draft and advances it for public hearing
Summary
The Planning Commission adopted draft content and placeholder maps to create a new North End focus area (north of Route 7, including Mayfair Industrial Park) and advanced the amendment to public hearing.
On May 7 commissioners reviewed Amendment 8 to create a new North End focus area north of Route 7 that would mirror certain Hurst West guidance for industrial and employment uses. The draft guidance, placeholder maps and recommendations a–h were presented by staff and commissioners discussed the geographic extent and whether the district should reflect existing industrial parcels, school lands and county‑owned property.
Commissioners agreed the North End focus area draft and its placeholder maps (page 57 of the packet) were suitable for public review and voted to advance the amendment to public hearing so the community can comment on the proposed focus‑area mapping and recommendations.
Staff will prepare the public‑hearing packet with the draft content and placeholder maps for community review and commission deliberation at the hearing stage.
