Commission backs Hurst West subarea changes to align comp plan with zoning

Commissioner (label 5) presented Amendment 6 to create a commercial neighborhood‑scale subarea at the east end of the Hurst West focus area to bring the comprehensive plan map into alignment with adopted MC (mixed commercial) zoning.
The amendment would split the area into Area 1 (West of Hatcher) and Area 2 (East of Hatcher) with use guidance distinguishing lighter industrial/business uses from smaller‑format professional office/medical uses. Commissioners discussed recommendations a–j and concluded the guiding statement did not require a rewrite; they agreed the recommendations sit “within the family” of existing guidance and voted to add the Area 1/Area 2 red box shown on the staff packet and advance the amendment to public hearing.
Chair asked staff to prepare the public‑hearing packet with the map changes shown on page 55 of the agenda so the public can review the boundary and recommendations at the hearing.
