Doctor Jordan announced two walk‑in health events for families who need school physicals or immunizations ahead of the new school year. “Wednesday, August 12 at Matheny Elementary School from 8 AM to 12 PM, we will offer school physicals only,” he said, and added that immunizations only will be offered the same day at the Sangamon County Department of Public Health from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
He emphasized which students require the physicals: first‑year Pre‑K, kindergarten, sixth grade, ninth grade and students enrolling in an Illinois school for the first time. Board members and participants also discussed meningitis vaccination timing for older students and confirmed it can be administered any time after a student turns 16 during routine care.
