Mike Van Milligan introduced the item and said Fire Chief Amy Scheller and project manager Jim Bosley recommended approval. Scheller told the council the headquarters is a priority and will remain in its downtown location; additional facility studies for police and fire administrative space are underway and may inform future work. "Fire headquarters is the staple of the fire station, so we don't have that as moving," Scheller said, noting the bunk room project is the largest station project and could be a model for future station improvements.
Council members expressed support and asked about master‑plan timing; the resolution passed 7‑0.
