Township Engineer Michael J. Kelly told the council that inspections of sidewalks along Franklin Turnpike from King Street to the New Jersey/New York State line found sections in various states of disrepair. He recommended the council adopt a resolution authorizing the Property Maintenance Inspector to serve written notices to affected property owners directing repairs under Township Code §15-9b.
The resolution (recorded as #249-26 on the agenda) requires specified work to be completed within 30 days of service (or a reasonable period depending on season) and explains the township may cause the work to be done and certify costs as a lien on the property if owners fail to comply.
Township staff will proceed with notices to property owners and the Department of Public Works will manage any township-performed repairs and cost certification procedures if necessary.
