Resident raises ADU approval concerns; neighbor questions new no-trespassing signs on canyon trail

Two residents addressed the council in the open comment period. Diana Baker of 276 West Center Street commended the council's transparency and then raised a specific zoning concern about an accessory dwelling unit at 250 West, asking how it had been approved given the size of the lot and structure and noting previous subdivision requests had been denied. Mayor Travis Mote replied that ADU square-footage rules are tied to lot size, acknowledged there may be "a loophole allowing for a 1,500 square foot ADU," and said the property owners had gone through conditional-use review.
Mark Murphy of 180 West 100 South told the council that no-trespassing signs were placed on lower switchbacks near the water tank and that a fallen tree had led to creation of a shortcut that blocked access to a local feature he calls "the resting tree." Mayor Mote said the city would investigate removing the log and explained that the connection to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail is on private property (Will's), and that the gravel pits own property up to the cliffs, factors that explain postings at those junctions.
