Interim Clerk/Treasurer Lange told the Budget and Finance Committee on May 12 that the City’s overall budget was holding steady for the fiscal year and that no major concerns had been identified.
"The City’s overall budget remained in strong standing with no major concerns identified at this time," Lange said while reviewing the April Treasurer’s Report, which showed the General Fund at approximately 71% of the year’s expenditures, Group Health near 61%, and Solid Waste and Sweeping around 71%.
Lange also provided an update on the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) collections: Microtel has remained current on reporting and payments, Holiday Inn completed a settlement payment, and the Wingate paid its balance in full. She said ongoing cross-training in the front office has helped process revenue vouchers and swim passes while the City’s website has been updated to be ADA compliant.
Committee members discussed larger anticipated year-end expenditures and remaining payments due later in the fiscal year but were not presented with any corrective actions or emergency measures. The Committee did not take formal action on the Treasurer’s Report but asked staff to continue monitoring projected expenditures and return with additional details if budget pressure emerges.
Next steps: staff will continue monthly reporting and provide more detailed year-end expenditure projections if material changes occur.
