Council asks staff to study 4-way stop at 44th and Adams after new apartment increases crossings

"With that new apartment complex there might be a little bit 4 way stop," a council member said, describing increased pedestrian crossings by residents and children and noting a lack of sidewalks on one side of the road. Members discussed having police or traffic staff observe the location, and possibly commissioning a traffic engineer or study if observations indicate a measurable safety issue.
Staff and the chief said they could review collision and activity data and provide a recommendation; council members noted that an engineer study would have a financial impact and asked staff to report back so the council could consider whether to budget for professional services.
