The council adopted Resolution 25-17 to accept the certified tax rate for 2025. Staff reported that Davis County prepared the certified rate of 0.001434 for the city. According to city staff, the rate represents a decrease from the 2024 rate but the addition of new growth in the tax base will cover the deficit in revenue. Councilman Wayne Winsor moved adoption and Councilman Blair Halverson seconded; the council approved the resolution by roll call vote.
The tax-rate adoption allows the county to collect property taxes on the city's behalf and distribute revenues appropriately; staff emphasized the rate-setting is an annual required step in the local budgeting and property-tax process. "The Certified Tax Rate prepared by Davis County is 0.001434," the staff report stated during the discussion.
