Council members asked how absences are handled; the chief said the contract allows up to five unfilled days in year one and requires reimbursement for full days the officer is not present in later years, though the department will try to cover shifts with other officers when possible.
Supporters noted the agreement is tied to the actual officer at each school, so reimbursement reflects the specific salary and benefit costs rather than a flat per-site amount. The council moved to approve, a roll call vote was held and the motion passed with all voting in favor.
