Commerce City approved Resolution 2026-099, authorizing change order number 26 to the construction contract with JHL Constructors LLC for the East 96th Avenue widening project to add signal installation at 96th and Laredo.
Jenna Hahn, director of public works, explained that because JHL is already mobilized on the widening contract, adding the signal installation as a change order is the most expedient and cost-effective approach compared with issuing a separate bid. Hahn said this approach takes advantage of the contractor already onsite and will avoid the delay of a separate procurement.
Council praised the cost savings and moved the resolution forward. The resolution passed unanimously with one excused absence.
