The board recognized elementary, middle and high school students selected as October students of the month and campus art-contest winners. Teachers' nomination excerpts were read aloud for each student and students were invited forward for photos.
Administrators also announced that Lucero Escalaria and Eric Solis were accepted into Grayson College's Patient Care Technician program with scholarships covering tuition, textbooks, scrubs and testing vouchers; presenters said students will complete the program before graduating high school. Staff recognitions included peer-nominated Crystal Apple winners and a Big Impact Award for office/secretarial work and custodial teams, with presenters emphasizing professional dedication.
"You are truly in the spirit of being a true Gunner Tiger," a teacher said about a kindergarten honoree during the recognition segment.
