Resident Sarah McMillen asked the council about qualifications for filling a Park Board vacancy and which qualifications the board would accept. Mayor Joan Harris responded that she "would have open discussion with anyone who wants to apply," and the council directed the item to be discussed on the next agenda.
The mayor also requested that the current Park Board bylaws be posted on the city's website and Facebook page so potential applicants can see the requirements and procedures. The minutes record the council did not make an appointment at this meeting and referred the matter for future consideration.
Staff follow-up is needed to publish the bylaws and to advertise the vacancy and application process, after which the council may consider applications at a subsequent meeting.
