The North Oaks Planning Commission on July 1 approved a Conditional Use Permit for an illuminated wall sign to be mounted on the west exterior of the building at 100 Village Center Drive.
City Planner John Uphoff presented the application, saying the property is a 3.067-acre parcel in the Commercial/Service district and that the proposed sign measures 66.4 square feet and is subject to the city's multiple-tenant retail signage standards and general CUP requirements. Applicant representative Jeff Nelson said the sign "will be affixed to the wall. It will be illuminated during the night, but not during the day and there will be no flashing elements." The landlord has approved the sign.
The Commission opened a public hearing; there were no public comments. Commissioners asked about size, setbacks and materials; City Administrator Kevin Kress confirmed the proposal complies with both City and owner standards. MOTION by Chair Dave Cremons, seconded by Commissioner Rick Anderson, to approve the Conditional Use Permit subject to the conditions noted in the staff report carried unanimously.
The approval applies only to the sign as described in the application and conditions; implementation must follow the city-issued permits and the conditions in the staff report.
