The board unanimously approved withdrawing $150,000 from the Fire/EMS Capital Reserve Fund to purchase a water tanker and $19,065.88 as Kensington’s share of SCBA equipment tied to a larger, grant‑supported regional purchase.
Fire Chief Jeff DiBartolomeo told the board the SCBA purchase was part of a $759,000 project shared among towns and that Kensington’s portion was less than 10% of the total. The motions to withdraw funds passed with Ian O’Reilly moving and Tom Balabon seconding; both votes were unanimous.
The tanker withdrawal will finance the new apparatus; delivery timing was discussed elsewhere in the meeting and the chief said the tanker construction had been delayed by a compartment redesign but was expected the following week. The board did not attach additional conditions to the withdrawals.
