Commissioners back bridge design push, pick landfill engineer and approve 2026–2035 CIP

Public Works Director Curtis Mader asked the Board to approve submittal support for a joint Cowley‑Butler County Bridge Investment Program (BIP) application to the Federal Highway Administration that would fund design of 30 bridges (15 per county). The Board authorized the Chair to seek letters of support from elected representatives and local stakeholders to strengthen the application.
Mader also reported the RFQ review panel ranked SCS Engineering highest for landfill engineering services and staff were authorized to negotiate agreements with SCS; Commissioner Woydziak moved approval. The Board approved a three‑year on‑call surveying services contract with Schwab Eaton and designated Mike Work, Schwab Eaton, and PEC to review and sign plats until a County Surveyor is hired. On capital planning, Assistant Administrator/Finance Director Ryan Adkison led discussion of landfill assumptions and other CIP items and the Board approved the proposed 2026–2035 CIP. Vouchers dated May 26, 2026, totaling $541,470.57 were approved 4‑0.
