Public Works Director Curtis Mader presented the department's 2026 equipment replacement plan and asked permission to solicit bids for replacements and to sell five items without replacement; the Board approved the request. Mader said the replacement plan is incorporated into the county's Capital Improvement Plan and budgets and is used to time equipment purchases and disposals.
Mader also reported a failed differential head and a related knocking noise on a John Deere motor grader. Murphy Tractor inspected the unit and provided an estimate; the final invoice for repair and service totaled $11,173.79. Commissioner Darren Jackson moved to approve the invoice for repairs in an amount not to exceed $12,000; the motion carried 5-0.
The Board agreed to sign a letter of recommendation for a Bridge Improvement Program application for a bridge near the City of Douglass and discussed the SW Ohio Street Road and SW 20th Street roundabout project with Mader.
