County approves $63,250 purchase of 55 poll pads and keeps gold warranty plan for election machines

County Clerk Tatum Stafford asked the Board to approve purchase of 55 new election poll pads, stands and printers from KnowInk, LLC for $63,250 because the current devices are failing to sync and some will not power on. "The purchase of 55 new poll pads, stands and printers from KnowInk, will cost $63,250," Stafford said. Commissioners approved the purchase 4-0.
Staff also briefed the Board on warranty options for existing election equipment. Stafford said the current gold plan had increased from approximately $71,000 to $91,000 while a silver plan would save about $5,000 but reduce on-site maintenance frequency. The board voted to stay with the gold plan. Commissioners discussed the number of machines, potential repair needs and the possibility that new election equipment could be required in roughly two years if version 3.0 requirements are adopted.
