Committee approves Saia Communications contracts, grant extension and radio appropriations

The committee authorized two contracts with Saia Communications Inc.: one for upgraded network cards for communication tower UPS systems not to exceed $4,690.20 (effective Feb. 1–Dec. 31, 2026; MUNIS #3537) and another for monitoring land mobile radio systems to detect grid power interruptions not to exceed $5,517.98 (effective Feb. 10–Dec. 31, 2026; MUNIS #3539). Motions passed 7–0.
Members also approved an amendment to the 2023 Statewide Interoperable Communications Grant with New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services to extend the contract period through Dec. 31, 2026 (MUNIS CHANGE ORDER #1841). To cover underbudgeted maintenance contracts, the committee approved a 2026 appropriation reallocating $40,000 from the county Wireless Surcharge ledger to radio maintenance, professional services contracts and maintenance agreements.
The minutes also record an earlier approval for CAD texting services (EM Systems) not to exceed $3,500 for first responder cell phones for 2025 operations (MUNIS CONTRACT #3540). For some communications contracts the minutes note costs are offset by the NYS Domestic Terrorism Grant.
