The American Fork City Council on Jan. 27 unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 2026-01-03 vacating a portion of the public utility easement at 452 West 1060 North after a brief public hearing. Council Member Ryan Hunter moved adoption and Ernie John seconded; the motion passed with all members present voting yes.
At the public hearing homeowner Blake Hunziker told the council the easement reduction would allow him to site a pool on his property and described the area as his backyard. "The property in question is his personal residence and the area discussed is his backyard," the meeting record states. Hunziker also noted an existing hot tub is located some distance from the proposed pool area.
The ordinance follows standard city review for easement vacations and resolves the applicant's request to reduce one side of the easement from 10 feet to 5 feet. The council did not record objections in the hearing transcript and the vote was unanimous. The ordinance will be filed with city records and implemented according to the city's procedures for utility-easement vacations.
