Resident reports alleged illegal turkey hunting on field adjacent to Van Etten Drive

Monica Kelleher-Hamby of 16 Van Etten Drive raised a public-safety concern during the July 8 meeting, saying out-of-state hunters had stepped out of the woods on Liberty Hill Road and killed turkeys on the field adjacent to her property without permission.
Ms. Kelleher-Hamby said she contacted police, who spoke with the men; according to her account, the hunters asserted that a mobile hunting app (Onyx) showed the field as permitted for hunting. Commissioners noted that, according to the app, the field appears restricted. Jean Eno recommended Ms. Kelleher-Hamby contact New Hampshire Fish and Game Region 3 in Durham to identify the conservation officer responsible for the area and to report the incident for follow-up.
The commission discussed safety concerns for children who use the neighborhood walking trail off Liberty Hill Road and urged the resident to seek follow-up from state wildlife authorities. No enforcement action by the commission was recorded at the meeting; the matter was presented as a public comment and routed to the appropriate agency.
