DAR donates Statue of Liberty replica; commissioners agree to oppose Kansas House Bill 2433

Interim Economic Development Director Cindy Wallace asked to discuss Kansas House Bill 2433 (which would clarify county authority over water transfers by placing certain authority with the chief engineer and a water transfer hearing panel). Commissioner Rein stated he had been the sole opponent at the House Committee and that he will travel to Topeka on Feb. 26 to testify against the bill; the commissioners agreed to sign a letter opposing HB 2433. Commissioners also asked for a proposed plaque diagram for the statue base. No formal appropriation for the base was recorded in the minutes.
