Committee approves scrapping five vehicles, purchases of rotary cutters and a Ford F-250

County Fleet Director Ron Finley told the committee that five county vehicles are being recommended for scrapping because they "have no value and or are dangerous to drive." He said fleet staff are preparing for summer months and have refurbished County Clerk trailers with spare tires and other items. The committee approved the scrapping recommendation by voice vote.
Separately, the committee approved multiple equipment purchases. The committee approved purchase of four Land Pride flex-wing rotary cutters (motion by Dave Adams, second Tim Foster) and approved buying a Ford F-250 crew cab with service body under the Illinois State Contract with Morrow Brothers Ford at a price of $81,611. County Engineer Matt Miller said the F-250 will replace a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500 with 160,978 miles and that the quoted price includes the service body and an auxiliary fuel tank with pump. The committee carried the motions by voice vote.
