Scout Clean Energy introduces 255‑MW solar project that will interconnect in Rock Island County

A representative of Scout Clean Energy used the public‑comment period at the Feb. 17 Rock Island County Board meeting to introduce a large solar project that will tie into the county’s transmission near Cordova.
"We're currently developing a Solar Farm that is mainly in Whiteside County, but the generation tie is going to cut into Rock Island County," said Grant Perdue of Scout Clean Energy. He said the project is about a 255‑megawatt solar farm comprising just over 2,000 acres in the fence, that the developer intends to apply for permits over the coming year, and plans construction in roughly two years.
The company representative said Scout Clean Energy is an owner‑operator managing projects for the roughly 40‑year life of the facility and offered to answer board questions in future meetings. The board did not take any formal action on the project at this session; Perdue’s remarks were an introductory public comment. The developer identified the planned interconnection point as near the Cordova Sub‑Station and said parts of the solar array will be sited in neighboring Whiteside County.
Board members did not debate the project during the public‑comment item; the presentation served primarily to notify the county and establish contact ahead of any future permit or zoning requests.
