Arts honorees named; Junction City and community event calendar outlined

The Arts Commission named Paula Meckes and David Farmer as 2025 Arts Citizens of the Year; Magistrate Paula Bodner also outlined Junction City Matters events for 2026 including Easter on Main (March 28) and America250 celebrations July 3–4.
Arts Commission Director Mimi Becker recognized Paula Meckes and David Farmer as the 2025 Arts Citizens of the Year; donations were made in their names to the KSD Charitable Foundation and the Humane Society, respectively. Becker highlighted Meckes’ long service to arts programming at KSD and Farmer’s lifelong work in the visual arts.
Magistrate Paula Bodner provided a Junction City Matters calendar of community events: Easter on Main on March 28, proposed Food Truck Fridays beginning in May, occasional movies starting in June, America250 activities on July 3–4, a Bluegrass Balloon Festival on Aug. 9, and a back-to-school event in September. She also reported on the Pine Knob Bike Park groundbreaking and noted the Republican Party would hold a meet-the-candidates event that evening.
