Finance Director Ashley Ivans presented an engineering-services agreement from Anderson Perry & Associates for 2nd Street improvements between Huntington Road and Morson Street. Ivans said the proposed improvements would require 'the removal of old growth trees located on the perimeter of Heritage Park' and that Anderson Perry priced alternative engineering to preserve the trees at $42,080.
Councilors discussed the condition and life cycle of the trees and weighed the cost-effectiveness of preserving them. After discussion the Council decided not to proceed with the Anderson Perry contract as presented and directed staff to conduct public outreach before any decisions or tree removals occur.
