The Moab City Planning Commission on May 14 unanimously approved Planning Resolution 10-2026, conditionally approving a Level II Site Plan for the Staybridge Hotel for property located at 938 and 940 South Main Street, Moab, Utah 84532. Commission Member Shalee Bryant moved the approval and Commission Member Jill Tatton seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Associate Planner Johanna Blanco presented the site's history and explained the owner, Lions Back Holdings, LLC, achieved pre-annexation and was vested into the overnight-accommodation overlay before the moratorium. Community Development Director Cory Shurtleff told commissioners the pre-annexation agreement language regarding solar was aspirational and would be addressed in a later phase. The approval includes three conditions: "Receipt of a detailed solar design and installation plan," receipt of the Workforce Assured Housing Ordinance (WAHO) payment, and consolidation of parcels 010012-0039 and 01-0012-0040 via boundary line adjustment. The motion language in the record states the conditions must be addressed to the satisfaction of the Moab City Planning Director prior to Building Permit Application approval.
