Moab city leaders formally recognized lifeguards who performed a deep-water rescue at the Moab Recreation and Aquatic Center during the May 26 council meeting. Parks, Recreation and Trails Director Patrick Trim introduced the recognition and described the rescue and the training that preceded the response. The Mayor presented plaques to lifeguards and Emergency Medical Services Director Andy Smith also presented awards, praising the speed and effectiveness of the response.
The city credited lifeguard training and on-site coordination with the successful outcome. Aquatic Manager Ryan Moran and lifeguards Soren Indegard and Blake Coleman were present at the meeting to receive honors; the council recorded its appreciation in the meeting minutes.
